  • Cumberland Heights: A nonprofit organization that has provided services since 1966. Cumberland Heights prides itself on being a treatment center steeped in tradition while also taking on cutting-edge practices such as predictive analytics and feedback-informed treatment.
  • Inspire Recovery: Dedicated to creating a safe space for the LGBTQ community in recovery. Inspire Recovery’s program is designed to enrich the emotional health and well-being of its clients while focusing on topics and traumas related to the experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender non-conforming, and queer-identified addicts and alcoholics.
  • Warriors Heart: Providing treatment of addiction with special attention to co-occurring conditions and post-traumatic stress, Warriors Heart focuses on delivering care to veterans, active duty military, US law enforcement, firefighters, paramedics, and first responders.
  • Avery Lane: An innovative substance abuse, dual-diagnosis, and trauma-specialized women’s rehab treatment center, designed specifically for the needs of women by women treatment professionals. Avery Lane embodies a community environment where staff and clients work together to grow and empower one another.
  • National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP): Formed in 1978, the NAATP is a nonprofit professional society that represents hundreds of not-for-profit and for-profit addiction treatment providers who offer critical services along the full continuum of care, from intervention, transportation, private therapy, outpatient care, hospitalization, residential treatment, and continuing/aftercare.

The purpose of the Advisory Committee forum was to unite diverse expertise in order to address evolving challenges in the addiction treatment industry and enhance LegitScript’s Certification Program. LegitScript would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to all the Advisory Committee representatives for their time and commitment.

Emphasizing Collaboration, Innovation, and Diverse Perspectives

With the Advisory Committee, LegitScript seeks to create a platform for open dialogue and communication between a range of leaders within the industry. In selecting committee membership, LegitScript focused on bringing together certified representatives while also nominating as many different voices and perspectives as possible. The Advisory Committee includes a range of various business types as well as organizations focusing on care for specific populations, such as veterans, women, or those in the LGBTQ+ community.

Addressing Industry Challenges and Insights

During its inaugural forum, the committee engaged in robust dialogue on several pressing topics:

  • Patient Acuteness and Co-occurring Disorders: The rising complexity of patient needs and the prevalence of co-occurring mental health disorders were highlighted.
  • Challenges in Specialized Treatment: Difficulties in marketing and delivering services to specialized populations, such as the LGBTQ+ community, were discussed, emphasizing the need for genuine treatment programs.
  • Technical Advertising Hurdles: Concerns were raised about certain advertising and SEO techniques as well as their potential to mislead clients, underscoring the importance of transparency in online marketing.

Looking ahead, LegitScript is committed to integrating feedback from the Advisory Committee — ensuring that our Certification remains responsive and supportive of industry needs. The committee will continue to discuss the importance of ethical marketing and consider additional avenues for maximizing the value of LegitScript’s Addiction Treatment Certification services.

Future Directions and Commitments

The Advisory Committee’s first meeting concluded with a reaffirmed commitment to collaboration. LegitScript plans to maintain regular committee engagements to foster continual dialogue and collective efforts. This inaugural session marks the beginning of a series of productive collaborations aimed at driving positive change within the addiction treatment sector.
